During my hike from the North Kaibab Trail to the Bright Angel Trail on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon our group decided to take the short spur to lower Ribbon Falls. I was delighted with the short hike as we hopped over a boulder or two and was faced with a beautiful waterfall. The stream resulting from the waterfall flowed past the trail. We followed to path up the side of the mountain to a cubby hole behind the falls. The photo on the page was taken from that spot. The trail continues a little further, but it is more of a social path and it looked precarious. The dome that the waterfall hit was covered in a delightful blanket of moss that gave wonderful color to the picturesque scene. Hiking back down the path I noticed a little opening in the bottom of the falls and instantly remembered it from pictures I had seen before.
If you hike down past Roaring Springs and camp at the Cottonwood Campground make sure to put this trail on your hit list. I give it a thumbs up.
